The Thrills Finish New Album
The Kills, The Stills make way for The Shrills, world's first all-mom rock band

The Thrills, otherwise known as the best California band from Ireland, are wrapping up production on the follow-up to last year's excellent summer album So Much for the City. Dave Sardy was at the helm for this one-- you might know him as the producer of such bands as The Dandy Warhols and Helmet, not to mention as the former leader of the criminally ignored 90s band Barkmarket.

Although the minor detail of the title is still a wee bit off in the future, some of the songs to be included on the album include "Introducing the Fall Guy", "Smoke and Mirrors", "Tell Me Something I Don't Know", "Follow My Rosebud", "The Irish Keep Gate Crashing", and "Whatever Happened to Corey Haim". I think you will admire our resolve and restraint in not making one single easy joke about "Haim", which also happens to be the first single, hitting the shelves on August 30th in the UK.

Virgin will be releasing the LP on September 13th in the UK, which presumably means we Yanks should see it on the 14th, but don't quote us on that. In addition to the five band members, fans can also expect collaborations with REM's Peter Buck and, in a truly appropriate touch, Brian Wilson's Smile collaborator Van Dyke Parks. In the months leading up to the release, the band will be hitting the festival circuit with several dates in the UK and a stint with Lollapalooza in the U.S. Confirmed so far are England's V Festival with The Strokes, Pixies, and N.E.R.D., and Scotland's T in the Park Festival with The Strokes, Pixies, and Franz Ferdinand. Plus, they're opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers! The boys get around:
