New Pornographers' Carl "A.C." Newman Plans Tour
Randy Newman still regretting soundtrack contributions to Major League, Seabiscuit, Jurassic Park III

Joining the leagues of The New Pornographers' other troubadours-- Neko Case, Dan "Destroyer" Bejar, and Todd "Fancey" Fancey-- Carl "A.C." Newman has just released his first solo record, The Slow Wonder, and will be setting out on a North American tour this July and August.

The observant among you will note that Newman's record was, in fact, reviewed on this very website yesterday, and those who actually read said review will further note that the album was deemed to be, if we may paraphrase, "fucking awesome." Fans of Newman's work with The New Pornographers will probably not find this to be much of a surprise, but the rest of you are in for a treat. Check it, and then get thee to a club this summer. It'll be hot outside anyway, and according to Matador, Newman will be touring with a full band, so none of that wandering-minstrel-with-a-guitar crap.

The tour begins in Seattle this July, continuing along the West Coast before heading east, with stops in both the U.S. and Canada along the way. In tow will be Portland, Oregon rockers The Neins, who'll be supporting their self-titled debut, Doghouse Records' Honorary Title, supporting their sophomore album Anything Else but the Truth, and finally, ex-Beachwood Sparks members All Night Radio, supporting their psych-pop/freak-pop/Sub Pop debut, Spirit Stereo Frequency.
