If you've been keeping up with the exciting world of Joan of Arc, you know that they've been going through some wild mood swings lately. After a series of some-would-say-unlistenable LPs, the group recently issued an album under the nom de plume Make Believe, which finally focused more intently on, you know, the music. Make Believe was, for all intents and purposes, really just Joan of Arc, but functioned under an established set of rules meant to broaden their musical horizons (we're not making this up). In a decidedly schizophrenic move, Make Believe set out on tour with Joan of Arc after the record's release.

Well, it seems now that the real Joan of Arc are back on their feet, and ready to release a new album as their old selves. The questionable album title department, however, still appears to be working overtime, as the upcoming follow-up to 2003's In Rape Fantasy and Terror Sex We Trust is said to be called Joan of Arc, Dick Cheney, Mark Twain.... The album features guest musicians from such diverse talent pools as Town and Country (Thrill Jockey), The Love of Everything (Brilliante), Make Believe (Obviously!), Pit er Pat (Overcoat), Aloha (Polyvinyl), and Owen (Polyvinyl). Recorded by Nate Kinsella and mixed by John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea and Cake), Joan of Arc, Dick Cheney, Mark Twain... is scheduled to hit stores as a double LP on August 10th and on those little aluminum discs on August 24th.
