Sonic Youth Rebound from Lollapalooza Cancellation with Headlining Summer Tour
Pitchfork newsteam amazed at how slightest change renews previous day's headline

Lollapalooza: Cancelled! Sonic Youth Tour: Rescheduled! Yes, you heard me: Sonic Youth, much like Modest Mouse, have quickly re-busied themselves for the remainder of the summer with their own headlining tour, sending the band's fears of spending another humid summer doing jack shit in NYC down the trash chute.

Following the cancellation of the indie festival juggernaut, Sonic Youth, along with Modest Mouse, Morrissey, The Flaming Lips, The Walkmen, TV on the Radio, Le Tigre, and many others saw their summer concert plans deleted. But in their typically reactionary manner, the band have already planned a new jaunt. With a tour route whose dates generally follow the abandoned Lollapalooza trajectory (they had already scheduled several shows on their Lollapalooza off dates), it'll be quite easy for fans to use their festival refunds for the SY shows, and still have enough leftover cheddar to scoop up their new album, Sonic Nurse, as well as their just-released DVD video compilation Corporate Ghost. Although, there's always heroin.

After their romp through Mexamericanada, Sonic Youth will line up the New Jersey shoreline and perform a record-breaking, bionic standing jump 5,000+ miles across the Atlantic Ocean, to land safely in Europe, where they will bring their pleasantly discordant rock 'n' roll to foreigners-- assuming they don't miscalculate and wind up splashing down in the North Sea. Boy, would that be embarrassing! Dates:
