Wolf Eyes Ready Sub Pop Debut, Tour
Bright Eyes, Wolf Eyes, Black Dice, Black Keys, Frog Eyes, Black Eyes distinguish themselves from the pack!

Look, you're a smart kid, I like you a lot. You've got the line between Bright Eyes and Frog Eyes down. But this Black Dice/Black Eyes/Wolf Eyes triuvirate? We know. It ain't easy keeping abreast of the indie rock these days when every band's got the same name. Which is not to say it's a new issue in alternative music: Aging hipsters might recall a similar trend in the 90s when every bandname began or ended with "Super" or "Jesus."

So, you know, not that we're trying to condescend to you or anything, but there are undoubtedly more than a few confused readers out there trying to give a good goddamn and keep the shit straight. We're gonna lay it out: Black Dice are the DFA-approved noise-rock Brooklynites with the records that are all loud and honky and almost not musical; Black Eyes are the Dischord-signed D.C. band who shout a whole lot and basically define "unpredictable"; and Wolf Eyes? They're the Michigan-based death-rattlers who've just inked a deal with Sub Pop that sends mom into convulsive, tyrannical fits of fury. Parents just don't understand!

Well, they're about to understand even less come September 28th, when Sub Pop issues their first Wolf Eyes full-length, and you start blasting it "like a little shit" from their living room entertainment complex. Burned Mind will mark Wolf Eyes' fourth full-length since 1999, and their 91st release overall, if you count cassettes, split LPs, CD-Rs and those pictures they keep slipping under your door. Their first 10-inch for the label just dropped at the end of April, featuring one track ("Stabbed in the Face") from the forthcoming Burned Mind, as well as non-album cuts "Rat Floods" and "Stabbed (Instrumental)." Sing a song of tracklists, a song of Burned Mind tracklists:

01 Dead in a Boat
02 Stabbed in the Face
03 Reapers Gong
04 Village Oblivia
05 Urine Burn
06 Rattlesnake Shake
07 Burned Mind
08 Ancient Delay
09 Black Vomit

Of course, before they officially get their face-stab on, Wolf Eyes will tour the West and Midwest this summer supporting Sonic Youth (see above). Not a bad gig, if touring with one of the most relevant and respected bands of all time is your bag. Dates:
