American Music Club Ready Reunion Album
Much-rumored "The Night You Fucking Ate My Soul" to appear as iTunes exclusive

Fuck emo. You want a wrist-slittingly good soundtrack for a night of gentle sobbing and solo drinking? Then you should know that only Mark Eitzel and his gang of depressed minstrels, American Music Club, will truly do the trick. With the pending October 12th release of Love Songs for Patriots, their first album in 10 years, it's time to break out the razors and Jim Beam. The album will be released by the recently ubiquitous Merge Records, and its tracklist looks a little bit like so:

Lead songwriter Eitzel told Pitchfork via email that while he feels like the new record is a change of pace for AMC, it won't alienate hardcore fans. "There is the same singer, the same complaining bastard," he explained. "Some will say it's the same, I don't feel that, but then, I'm delusional. Some people like our records a lot, and I know they will be judging us. But that definitely improved my work."

As far as future plans go, Eitzel is vague but says he's working on a new solo record ("a little acoustic and a little computerish"), and that he would like to tour with AMC. Otherwise? "I'm too old to be a prostitute. I'll try and join the work force next year if I want to stay in San Francisco. But it all depends if Bush wins again-- then my plan will be to watch the shadow fall across the country."
