PJ Harvey Readies New Single, Tours the World
Special PJ Harvey map designates "North America" only as "California"

Oh, why not make a day of it? Fellow Lollapalooza reject PJ Harvey, just like Broken Social Scene, has recovered nicely from the traveling musical carnival's cancellation, and is heading out on a tour of California and Europe to close out the summer. According to Billboard, Harvey is also planning a much more thorough North American headlining tour this fall, though there are no solid details on that just yet. All of this touring, of course, is in support of her new record, released stateside in June to impressive commercial success for someone not named Usher (#29 on the Billboard charts). The lucky few of you near and dear to these venues should do some calendar-scrawling:

07-24 Byron Bay, Australia - Splendour In The Grass Festival
07-30 Naeba, Japan - Fujirock Festival
08-13 Solana Beach, CA - Belly Up
08-15 Los Angeles, CA - Don't Knock The Rock Festival
08-16 Los Angeles, CA - Knitting Factory
08-17 Los Angeles, CA - Knitting Factory
08-19 San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall
08-20 Santa Cruz, CA - Catalyst Club
09-01 Dublin, Ireland - Olympia Theatre
09-02 Belfast, Ireland - Waterfront Hall
09-04 Glasgow, Scotland - Carling Glasgow Academy
09-05 Manchester, England - Carling Apollo Manchester
09-07 Leeds, England - Leeds University
09-08 Nottingham, England - Rock City
09-09 Cambridge, England - Corn Exchange
09-11 Birmingham, England - Carling Birmingham Academy
09-12 Bristol, England - Carling Bristol Academy
09-14 Brighton, England - The Dome
09-15 London, England - Carling Apollo Hammersmith

As is her wont, Harvey has also been busily releasing singles from the new album, padded as usual with copious B-sides. July 20th marked the release of the second single from Uh Huh Her, "You Come Through". Available, also per usual, on 2xCD and seven-inch, the single features three previously unreleased tracks: "Stone", "Angel", and a home-recorded version of album cut "Who the Fuck?", sure to delight those oddballs who still think 4-Track Demos is her best album. (Everyone knows it's her second! -Ed.)

Additionally, Harvey is scheduled to perform the first single from Uh Huh Her, "The Letter", on unfunnyman Jay Leno's Tonight Show August 11th. Since she already performed the song on Letterman, we figure Leno's on the receiving end of some pretty sloppy (if hard-rocking) seconds. Regardless, it's nice to see Harvey shilling for the man with completely uncompromising and very uncommercial rock music. Eat your heart out, Liz Phair!
