The Libertines Plan North American Tour
Venues already booking replacement acts
In Libertines-time, a month-and-a-half can be an eternity (compare Pitchfork news articles from May 25th, June 3rd and June 29th-- or every third story on NME's website). A few scant weeks is all the on-again/off-again Pete Doherty needs to amass a new arsenal of floppy hats, and/or consume his body weight in crack cocaine, and/or enter and exit rehab for said crack cocaine usage at least twice. But according to Rough Trade's website-- and always assuming the group hasn't completely self-destructed by late September-- North American fans can expect an 18-date, coast-hopping tour. Keep those receipts, friends:
09-17 New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
09-19 Los Angeles, CA - Troubadour
09-27 Vancouver, British Columbia - Richard's on Richards
09-28 Portland, OR - Dante's
09-29 Seattle, WA - Neumo's
10-01 San Francisco, CA - Fillmore
10-02 Los Angeles, CA - Henry Fonda Theatre
10-03 San Diego, CA - Epicentre
10-06 Denver, CO - Larimer Lounge
10-09 Chicago, IL - Metro/Smart Bar
10-10 Detroit, MI - Magic Stick
10-12 New York, NY - Webster Hall
10-15 Toronto, Ontario - Opera House Concert Venue
10-16 Montreal, Quebec - Cabaret LaTulipe
10-17 Philadelphia, PA - Theatre Of The Living Arts
10-18 Boston, MA - Paradise Rock Club
10-21 Atlanta, GA - Echo Lounge
10-22 Orlando, FL - The Social
According to the aforementioned NME, the band are currently on tour in the Far East without lightning rod vocalist/guitarist Pete Doherty, who is (sort of) playing solo shows in the UK, performing Libertines material. However, he has seemingly been up to his old antics, no-showing August 1st and 2nd solo gigs in London. It's very unclear whether the erstwhile drug-addicted burglar will be performing with his mates on the U.S. tour. Regardless, "Can't Stand Me Now", the first single from The Libertines' upcoming self-titled second album will has just hit stores this week, and the full-length should still be out August 30th via Rough Trade.
