Crooked Fingers Ready New Full-Length, Gear Up for North American Tour with The Delgados

Crooked Fingers, we daresay, is truly music for the season of fall. The rustic sound of Eric Bachmann's gravel-torn vocals and the surrounding musical color-tone radiates a vibrant shade of amber that stands akin to mountain lodges, roaring fires, pints of ale, as well as several other such stereotypes. The reason for all this waxing poetic (it really is our strong point, we think) is that a new Crooked Fingers album can now be faintly seen heading over that golden horizon.

Indeed, following the success of 2003's Red Devil Dawn, Bachmann has been hard at work on yet another Crooked Fingers release, tentatively titled Dignity and Shame. According to the band's official website, the record is presently slated for an early 2005 release via Merge Records. There is also some speculation that it may wind up a double album (though not necessarily a double-CD set), as the band's site states that "twenty-two songs were recorded for it and so far it sounds like eighteen of them will make the cut." In the meantime, Bachmann will be touring the country under the Crooked Fingers banner, performing songs from the new record all the way. Most of the dates will see Bachmann opening for The Delgados on their North American tour, which officially gives you two reasons to get the hell up out of the house.
