Deerhoof to Launch U.S. Fall Tour Next Week

There comes a time in a man's life that a niche in his brain stirs up the most random of desires; everyone has experienced at least one of these, I'm sure of it. Just last night, I was overtaken by such a sudden and insistent ache that begged the benevolent Ra for a peanut butter and pickle sandwich on toasted pumpernickel bread. Other times, I find myself yearning for a scoop of sugar-coated noise pop buoyed by a shrill female voice, delivering forth tales of the banding together (and subsequent triumphs) of lovable and presumably delicious forest animals for the purposes of taking down the icy-hot corporate dong of "the man."

While I cannot personally attest to Satomi Matsuzaki and pals' ability to craft a peanut butter and pickle sandwich, I can most certainly guarantee their penchant for all things woodland and noble in cause. With this fact in mind, half my random desires (vaguely reminiscent of a pregnant woman) could be swiftly sated by attending any one of the shows on Deerhoof's upcoming North American tour. The dates read a little something like this:

09-09 Seattle, WA - Neumo's
09-10 Portland, OR - Roseland Theater
09-11 Olympia, WA - Eagle's Hall (w/ Yeah! Fest)
09-18 San Francisco, CA - Bottom of the Hill (w/ Br. Danielson, early show)
09-18 San Francisco, CA - Bottom of the Hill (w/ Br. Danielson, late show)
10-25 Minneapolis, MN - Orpheum Theater (w/ Wilco)
10-27 Madison, MI - Orpheum Theatre (w/ Wilco)
10-29 Chicago, IL - Auditorium Theater (w/ Wilco)
10-30 Chicago, IL - Auditorium Theater (w/ Wilco)
11-02 Brooklyn, NY - Northsix
11-03 New York, NY - Knitting Factory (early show)
11-03 New York, NY - Knitting Factory (late show)
11-05 Philadelphia, PA - First Unitarian Church (w/ The Advantage)
11-06 Baltimore, MD - Ottobar
11-08 Murfreesboro, TN - Red Rose Coffee House (w/ Cherry Blossoms)
11-09 Columbia, MO - The Ranch

As previously reported, Deerhoof also have a little full-length collaboration in the works with sugar-high folk-popper Br. Danielson. Though as-of-yet untitled, the disc is presently slated for release in 2005 on Secretly Canadian. The artists plan to record the LP in a cabin in Yosemite National Park, just because they're cool like that. More details as they develop.
