Rogue Wave Kick Off U.S. Tour This Weekend

According to their official (and quite adorable) website, recent Sub Pop signees Rogue Wave will be headed out on a brief headlining tour stretching through the first half of September, before they break ranks to regroup in October. Rogue Wave's debut album, Out of the Shadow, was issued by the Seattle-based megalith back in mid-July, and has since been greeted with a great deal of critical praise. The album's poignant pop melodies have nabbed the band comparisons to everyone from The Shins to Pinback to Elliott Smith, but we certainly encourage you to draw your own conclusions. Pitchfork's own Brian Howe recently went as far as to proclaim that the band was "ordained for long-term success." Like he knows.

The first half of the tour finds Rogue Wave playing alongside Guster, with The Helio Sequence joining the bill for a few of the October shows. In the interest of a little more name-dropping, they've just finished up a tour with A.C. Newman of The New Pornographers. And before that, they were on the road with The Shins and Fiery Furnaces. And before that, they played a couple shows with TV on the Radio. Oh, you get the damn idea. They're popular!
