The Thrills Ready New Album, Tour with Pixies

It's not every day that a bunch of Irish lads spend some time in the States and decide to write a whole bunch of songs about California as if, you know, they lived there. It's even rarer when the resulting album, namely the Thrills' 2003 release So Much for the City, actually turns out to be not a complete disaster. Now, as previously reported, the sunny Irish rockers (now there's an SAT-calibur oxymoron) are getting ready to release their sophomore album, entitled Let's Bottle Bohemia. The Virgin release will be available in the U.S. on September 14th, and the tracklist looks a little like this:

01 Tell Me Something I Don't Know
02 Faded Beauty Queens
03 Whatever Happened to Corey Haim?
04 Saturday Night
05 Not For All the Love in the World
06 Our Wasted Lives
07 You Can't Fool Old Friends with Limousines
08 Found My Rosebud
09 The Curse of Comfort
10 The Irish Keep Gate Crashing
11 A City of Long Nights

Let's Bottle Bohemia features notable guest appearances by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and Brian Wilson's SMiLE collaborator Van Dyke Parks, which seems just about right. A video for the album's first single, "Whatever Happened To Corey Haim?" is currently available for viewing on the band's official website, and will hopefully offer a suitable answer to the age old question. (All we know is that he just had a kid, and that some dude named Brent DiCrescenzo just made a pseudo-documentary revolving around him and former childstar pal Corey Haim that was effin' hilarious.)

Never a band to rest on their collective laurels, The Thrills are currently gearing up for a busy fall touring schedule in support of the album. The group will play a few select U.K. and U.S. dates before starting their tenure as the opening band for The Pixies' vaunted North American tour, after which they'll venture off to the U.K. in November for their own headlining jaunt. Since, as you may have noticed, we've spent the past couple months alternating between Wilco and Pixies tour updates, you can check the link below for a complete list of relevant dates.
