Kompakt's Michael Mayer Readies Debut LP

After three aborted attempts and a string of EPs, Kompakt Records co-founder Michael Mayer will finally release his debut album, Touch, in January 2005. Mayer-- who first began working on a full-length record back in 2001-- completed work on Touch in just three weeks. The LP features both sides of the "Privat" / "Amabile" single plus six previously unrelesed songs ranging from the banging title track to the Eno/Bowie-esque "Slowfood". According to Mayer, "Alan Parsons, The Steve Miller Band, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, acid, New York deep house, movie scores, and techno" all influenced the record.

Mayer, who has also released influential mixes such as Immer, Speicher, and Fabric 13, has recently unveiled a second Speicher mix. Like the original, it consists solely of tracks were that were released on Kompakt Extra's 12-inch series of the same name. The mix includes Mayer's own "X", as well as tracks from Reinhard Voigt, Wolfgang Voigt, Magnet, Naum, and the Wighnomy Bros., among others. The tracklist for Speicher 2:
