Sun Kil Moon Tours Some, Works on New Material

Succeed in pulling off an entire album of slowed-down acoustic AC/DC covers and we can safely promise you'll have many of the Pitchfork staff in your pocket for the rest of your career. It's probably for the best that only one musician has ever attempted to collect on that offer: Mark Kozelek accomplished the dirty deed in 2001 with What's Next to the Moon. The former Red House Painters frontman may or may not have just been marking time while he put together his new band (Sun Kil Moon, who released their first album last year), or he may have been fulfilling a lifelong rock 'n' roll dream, but the record induced more head-scratching than adulation.

We feel the same way about Kozelek's latest teeny-tiny acoustic solo tour. Four shows are better than none, but if he can draw two nights' worth of fans in Austin, Texas, why stop there? Minnesota could use a good cover of "If You Want Blood", dammit! The chosen few:

11-05 West Hollywood, CA - Troubador
11-07 Austin, TX - Cactus Cafe
11-09 Austin, TX - Cactus Cafe
11-11 New Orleans, LA - Mermaid Lounge

In the meantime, Kozelek is reportedly working on new material, either for another solo record or for a second Sun Kil Moon release. Explaining the vagueness of these reports, a representative for his label said, "He's kind of always working." Hey, us too!
