Black Dice Cancel Tour Due to "Family Illness"

Alas, just as the DFA crew celebrates its absolute dominance over Pitchfork-reading America with the three-disc DFA Compilation #2, one of the collective's brightest lights temporarily burns out. Experimental noise-punks Black Dice have shut the door on their remaining tour dates with Animal Collective, citing unspecified personal trauma. "We are sorry to announce that due to family health problems, we will have to reschedule our November for a later date," reads a short post on the group's website. "We're very disappointed that we cannot play these shows and look forward to heading out on the road early next year." DFA would only add that the cause is a personal, family illness that shouldn't hamper the band long-term.

Fortunately, in brighter news, the Animal Collective braintrust insists it will forage ahead with their previously-reported-by-Pitchfork November tour dates. Opening duties now fall to New York City art-rockers Gang Gang Dance, except in Canada, as the members of that band are mortally terrified of moose, crummy exchange rates, and socialized medicine.
