Bloc Party Prep Debut LP, Tour Europe with Interpol

Aaron Mandel and Ryan Schreiber collaborate like the best of pals:
Bloc Party are pretty open about their intention to become a AA-league Gang of Four. There's the bandname, for one thing, and there's the Communist-themed layout of their website. But just like their antecedents (who signed to EMI), Bloc Party don't seem to be able to shake that major-label thing. Their debut album, Silent Alarm, comes out February 14th (in Europe, anyway; America may have to wait) on the Virgin-affiliated V2 Records, and... we have details.

Producer Paul Epsworth, who also laid down the majority of the tracks for The Futureheads' excellent self-titled debut (coincidentally, the non-Epsworth cuts were committed to tape by Gang of Four's Andy Gill), informed us via email last week that Silent Alarm was recorded mainly in Copenhagen at Deltalab Studios, which he described as "a really quirky retro looking space which seemed to fit the strange feeling of working til midnight and it still being light outside."

According to Epsworth's account, the sessions went spookily fantastic: "We did have some amazing moments when we felt like magic was really present, real hair on end stuff. The album is going to be much more diverse than the last few singles suggest. I'll leave it as a surprise." Tracklist:

01 Like Eating Glass
02 Helicopter
03 Positive Tension
04 Banquet
05 Blue Light
06 She's Hearing Voices
07 This Modern Love
08 Pioneers
09 Price Of Gas
10 So Here We Are
11 Luno
12 Plans
13 Compliments

"Banquet" and "She's Hearing Voices" appeared on the band's self-titled EP earlier this year, while "Helicopters" has just been released as a new UK single. Additionally, not to be outdone by their Dutch counterparts, V2 Japan has announced a second EP, to be released December 1st, that has no overlap with the first EP and only one track in common with the album. It's titled Little Thoughts and it goes like this:

01 Little Thoughts
02 The Tulips
03 Storm And Stress
04 Helicopter
05 Skeleton
06 The Tulips (remix)

Finally, the band has announced the following dates for end-of-the-year European touring, which is presently underway-- but they don't get really serious about it until next week, when they hook up in France with the touring beast machine Interpol, of the coattailed couture. Dates:
