Vaz Begin Work on New LP, Launch U.S. Tour

New York-based spaz-rockers Vaz have just finished a long and arduous tour through Europe and have now just embarked upon their first tour of their home country in more than two years. With band member aliases ranging from Apollo Liftoff (vocals and guitar) and Deft Garlands (drums), Vaz promises a theatrical show-- hell, the artwork of their last LP, 2003's Dying to Meet You, had the boys dressed up in Roman military garbs. Plus, if you'll recall, messrs. Liftoff and Garlands used to play with noise-happy Hammerhead in a past reincarnation with Amphetamine Reptile. So, basically, their live act will probably be quite loud but not without a certain flair, and you the tour attendee will be all the better for it.

Those AmRep days are over, of course, and now that Vaz are on the Gold Standard Laboratories roster, they have some recording to do. The band's management tells Pitchfork that Vaz have already starting plotting their next sessions for a new album, including some recording scheduled for their stop in Indiana. No word yet on when any of this music will be released to the general public, but they have released something the past two years, so we don't expect anything drastically different for the '05. And if we were the speculating type, we'd expect some new material to get played. Have at it here:
