Spoon Announce Brief December Tour

For eager fans of Spoon (that would be us), news of the band comes as lean as the production on the trio's last two albums. Example: The group recently used its valuable web space to post a video clip of the making of what they call "album 5." The footage, assembled by two Austin-based filmmakers, showcases a good chunk of a new song, so if you've squeezed all the pleasure you could out of those three demos that were unleashed in October, here's a temporary solution.

Fortunately, Spoon will be hitting the road-- and presumably playing a good part of Album 5-- this very December. Granted, it's not the whirlwind tour that's likely to follow the release of the new album, but these gigs should be prime warm-up time for the new songs. The band will be sticking close to home for the four dates, and frontman Britt Daniel will also make a solo appearance (as he is often wont to do) in New Jersey the day after the Thanksgiving, presumably just so it doesn't seem like geo-nepotism. In addition, Spoon will be featured on PBS' Austin City Limits on December 11th. The performance is an encore presentation of a show that was originally aired back in early 2003, and also features Ben Kweller. Broadcast times vary, due mostly to that stupid "mountain" time zone, so check out the site for when the show airs in your neighborhood.
