The Pink Lincolns to Release Compilation

St. Petersburg, Fla.,'s snot-punk rockers The Pink Lincolns were often seen playing alongside such late 90s punk acts as the Queers, Jawbreaker, and Screeching Weasel, but never quite achieved the same level of popularity as those bands. However, after Ben Weasel donned a Pink Lincolns shirt in his biopic Maximum Rock'n'Roll, the band found its popularity rising, and spent the latter half of the 90s cruising the country playing their blistering, sardonic punk rock. Since the release of 1997's Pure Swank, however, the band have been officially been MIA. Frontman Chris Barrows spent some of the off time in The Jackie Papers, releasing the 1999 album I'm In Love, but now, the original band is poised to make a return, both in retrospective and brand-new form.

Hazzard Records has set December 15th as the release date for Background Check, a 32-track rarities collection covering The Lincolns' recorded output from 1987 up through this year. The collection gathers tracks from the band's various 7-inches, including all three Sumo Fumes discs, demos, unreleased studio tracks, and live tracks. Included in the mix is a whole mess of cover tunes, including classics from Wire, X-Ray Spex, The Psychedelic Furs, and, yes, even Elton John. Tracklist:
