New Radiohead Material to Debut at Festival

Let me just say from first-hand experience that, for die-hard Radiohead fans, a year is a long fucking time to have to wait for new material. I mean, c'mon, it seemed like we got Kid A and Amnesiac within a couple months of each other, right? So after the euphoric wave of 2003's Hail to the Thief wore off, we were slammed with the disparaging news that the band was going to take some time off and didn't have plans to work on new music anytime soon.

But, ah, come March, the (not very) long wait for new Radiohead music will come to a close (sort of). NME.com is reporting that music written by Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood will be part of the London Sinfonietta at the London Ether Festival, which will be held on March 27-28.

Organizers for the event, which will take place at London Royal Festival Hall, told NME.com that they will feature "two evenings of experimentation, collaboration and cross-genre juxtaposition". In addition to the Greenwood and Yorke-penned material, classical composers and traditional Arabic song will be performed.

Now, we can't tell you for sure whether (a) Thom and Jonny will actually be there, or (b) if they will be playing rock music or old-British-dudes-with-violins music. What we do know at this point is that some nightmare-inducing "Radiohead TV" will also be shown during the night, which featuring videos, animations and previously unreleased tracks. And that, my friends, should be good enough to stop the twitching and the sweating.
