Thrill Jockey's Pit er Pat Prepare Debut LP

One of Thrill Jockey's newer signings, Chicago-based Pit er Pat, will see the release of their debut full-length this spring. The trio was originally known as Blackbirds back when they were just the backing band for some unnamed singer/songwriter, but he/she punked the band and headed to New York to sink into probable obscurity. So what's a former backing band to do? Put on your big-boy pants, strike out on your own, find a new name, and start experimenting with Deerhoof and Blonde Redhead fetishism and the art of playing in a band with no damn guitars, that's what! The result: the full-length Shakey, mixed at Chicago's Soma Studios over five days. Pit er Pat's only prior release was an EP entitled Emergency, released on Overcoat Recordings last year.
