Crooked Fingers to Issue New LP Next Month

Eric Bachmann and his band of tavern-hopping, mountain-man minstrels, Crooked Fingers, toured their proverbial asses off during the latter part of 2004, so now it's time to settle down and get ready for the release of their fourth full-length album, Dignity and Shame. Coming somewhat slowly on the heels of 2003's fan-favorite release, Red Devil Dawn, the new effort is slated for a February 22 release via Merge. According to Merge, there will also "most likely" be an EP of non-album Crooked Fingers tracks released in late spring or summer.

Contrary to previous speculation, the album will contain only 12 tracks, opposed to the once-projected 18. As a result, the band is said to be in possession of 10 unused songs from the album's reported 22-track recording sessions. We have no idea if the other eight will ever see the light of day, but the band has already announced an expanded vinyl edition of the album that features two additional tracks: "The Ballad of El Cuchillo" and a new version of "New Drink for the Old Drunk."
