First things first: Just so you understand how much we care about you, be aware that as we researched this story we persevered through constant unease caused by the unrelated news of Aphex Twin's "Analord" project. It turns out this is a pun on the word "analog", and has nothing to do with Richard D. James' dominion over the rectal cavities of the populace. But we didn't know that.

Anyway, the payoff... there's a new Boom Bip album coming and we figured you would be interested. One calls it Blue Eyed in the Red Room, if one is being formal, and one buys it February 22 wherever Lex Records are sold. Buying it later would also be an option, except that then one could miss out on the limited-edition version, which includes a 13-minute bonus track called "Red Room", documenting one of the album sessions. The other ten tracks you can pick up any old time:

Only two of the songs feature vocals: "Do's and Don'ts" has Baha'i-themed lyrics written and sung by Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals, while "The Matter" is a fucking stunningly beautiful ballad sung by Touch & Go chanteuse Nina Nastasia. Despite Boom Bip's rare use of vocals, he sounds enthusiastic about the ones he's chosen to use: "Nina's voice demands every bit of the attention of the song... I can identify with every word. We both are in deep relationships and battle with our thoughts on our partners."

Blue Eyed uses no samples whatsoever, with all the music played by Boom Bip himself, which is not to say the man has dropped the loop-based production style he was first known for; in the three years since Seed to Sun, Boom Bip has remixed tracks for Jamie Lidell, Her Space Holiday, and Lali Puna, among others.
