Impossible Shapes to Release Album, Tour in February

Zach Vowell reports:
In 2003, the Impossible Shapes released two separate albums on two different labels. This year, in what fans may perceive as an attempt to make up for the cost of devotion in 2003, the Bloomington, Indiana group will repeat its past prolific tendencies at half price. The first of two 2005 releases, Tum, is available now for free on Secretly Canadian's website. However, it's only up until March 3, so get thee hence. The album is also available on vinyl only through St. Ives Records, but most of you probably don't have a turntable, so do you care? No.

However, all you need to hear the band live is ears, so you're probably OK there. That is, if their upcoming tour hits your town. All dates will feature a set by labelmate Jens Lekman. He's Swedish, you know. Dates:

02-05 North Manchester, IN - The Firehouse
02-09 Cleveland, OH - The Spot at Case Western
02-10 Pittsburgh, PA - Public Health Auditorium
02-11 Somerville, MA - Pa's Lounge
02-12 New York, NY - Mercury Lounge
02-13 Philadelphia, PA - The Khyber
02-16 Atlanta, GA - The Earl
02-18 Houston, TX - Mary Jane's Fat Cat
02-19 Austin, TX - KOOP in-studio
02-19 Austin, TX - Emo's (w/ Black Lipstick)
02-20 Denton, TX - Hailey's
02-22 Tucson, AZ - Plush
03-01 Seattle, WA - Crocodile CafŽ
03-04 Bloomington, IN - 2nd Story
03-05 Chicago, IL - Schubas

As for the second LP of the Impossible Shapes' 2005, Horus will be released and distributed in the more traditional fashion (i.e. you can pick it up at the record store) on February 1 through Secretly Canadian. Though we can't corroborate the band's claim of a "swell of grandeur" developing over the course of the LP, there are 11 songs, and the album cover art features a grandiose-lookin' bird. Oh, and then there's the tracklist:

01 Bombs
02 Demon Child
03 Putrefaction
04 The Beast
05 The Princess
06 I Move By the Moon
07 Survival
08 Demon Love
09 Forever Alone
10 Blooming Town
11 Sundance
