Pitchfork: Ida Take Their Show on the Road

Veteran New York pop band Ida, faced with a late-January blizzard, decided to put their planned concert at Boston's Museum Of Fine Arts off for a month; they figured that hey, if they hadn't played Boston in over four years, why hurry? Plus, the entire museum was covered in a foot of solid ice, and it turns out that while the group knows their way around breathtaking harmonies and gently plucked guitars like nobody's business, they're actually all totally useless if you hand them a pickaxe. Sad, but true.

Anyway, the rescheduled show is now timed perfectly to lead off the band's midwinter revival, coming as it does two days before the February 22nd release of their new album Heart Like A River, and five days before the beginning of a long, mostly all-ages tour that will take Ida all over the country except for the Midwest, due to their bassist's previously-undiagnosed allergy to people of Scandinavian descent. Depending on what region you live in, you can catch them with one of several other low-key performers such as the Rachel's, Tara Jane O'Neil, the Gena Rowlands Band and, uh, Xiu Xiu.
