Books Announce Details of First U.S. Tour

As the Books' latest LP, Lost and Safe, gets closer to its release date, we all wonder more and more whether the quietly experimental group can escape the dreaded junior slump (the sophomore slump being soundly handled with 2003's The Lemon of Pink). As we previously reported, the new album is set for release on April 5, and if on that date you find yourself the least bit let down from the staggering heights the Books have previously led you, then a good dose of bookish live music may well be the anecdote. Nearly a month after Lost and Safe's release (does that mean we should expect one of those "growers"?), the band will begin a brief tour in New York state. The Books have also been long rumored to be collaborating with Prefuse 73 (or at least allowing Mr. Herren to remix their music), and just when we had lost hope, here comes Prefuse to the rescue. Recently the Atlanta producer posted a message on his website stating "b.t.w. 'the Books' collab EP is still on, so is a 'Sa Ra' collab EP...but I can't shove all this shit down your throat at once, this record and its singles and EPs that follow are for everyone." So there's hope yet for Prefuse 73 Reads The Books, and what's more, you can check out the Books' collaborations with Prefuse on his new album comes out on March 21. And thus begins National Books Month.
