Basement Jaxx Prep 2xCD comp, Hunt For U.S. Label

With a Grammy in one hand and a boombox quizzically blaring "Where's Your Head At?" in the other, British electronic duo Basement Jaxx has been handed the dreaded pink slip by Astralwerks, its North American record label. While we would certainly forgive Astralwerks for skipping the world's most worthless awards show (where Jaxx members Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe took home Best Electronic/Dance Album for Kish Kash), surely they must have known that Basement Jaxx has a singles compilation coming out on March 21, with "Oh My Gosh"-- one of two new tracks on the album-- released as a single on March 14. I mean, we reported it here, weren't they reading that day? Now without a label, Buxton told Billboard recently that, "It was a perfect time for the award," and indeed there will likely be no shortage of labels lining up to take advantage of that instant publicity. They hope.

As previously reported, the compilation, entitled Singles, will arrive on March 21 (in the UK...it's import only for U.S. fans now) via XL Recordings, and will include a 14-track bonus disc. You might have done seen disc one's tracklist the first time we ran it, but disc two's all new, baby:

Furthermore, we also hinted at a live DVD being released the same day as Singles, and verily it shall be-- The Videos will come out on March 21. The career-spanning DVD will offer the band's videos (natch), some extra documentary footage, and live tracks dating as far back as 2000. The group's website has generously offered up a tracklist for the DVD, and we feel like spreading the love just a little bit further. Traxx for the eyes:
