Pitchfork: Morrissey to Release Live CD, DVD

Morrissey's widely-loved 2004 album You Are The Quarry revived a career that Moz held together for several years with little more than sheer willpower and periodic ambiguous comments about fascism. It also brought fans out of hibernation who were quite happy paying $14 to pretend the last ten years of diminishing returns hadn't happened, and then another wad of cash six months later when Attack Records reissued Quarry with 9 bonus tracks and a DVD.

But if you still feel your loyalty to Saint Morrissey has been insufficiently tested, you can demonstrate your feelings on March 29, when, as previously reported, two concert recordings (one CD, one DVD) from his 2004 tour will be released. The CD, Live at Earl's Court, is a little heavier on rarities. The DVD, Who Put the "M" In Manchester?, is a little heavier on, uh, being a DVD. As such, it includes all three Quarry videos as extras, and depicts one entire show, while the Earl's Court CD hops around between several end-of-tour gigs. The two releases share about half of their song choices, including both newer songs and quite a few Smiths classics like "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out"-- you know, that song where Morrissey rips off Schneider TM (but why?).
