Pitchfork: New Quasimoto Album Out in May

While Madlib sits back, gets lit, and listens to Sun Ra, his helium-pitched alter ego Quasimoto has been known to wreck shop. But it's been some time since the latter's 2000 debut, The Unseen, especially in Madlib's prolific time frame. Well, you can rest easy, oh weary 12" collector-- Stones Throw Records has announced that Quasimoto's long awaited second LP will be released on May 3. Titled The Further Adventures of Lord Quas, the album features guest appearances by Madvillain and longtime colloborator Medaphoar (aka M.E.D.) sprinkled about the whopping (but not entirely unexpected) set of 27 tracks. Two of the track titles appear to be counterparts to tracks off of The Unseen: "Rappcats Pt. 3" grows out of "Jazz Cats Pt. 1", and surely "Shroom Music" relates somehow to its forebear "Boom Music". Just two more nuggets to add to Madlib's already fascinating corpus.

And as luck would have it, he's gonna take you to school, that is, if you'd like. The Stones Throw sanctioned website rappcats.com has a video for "Rappcats", which, much like like "Jazz Cats" does for jazz, gives a thorough rundown of the history of rap. The video rapidly splices together footage of hip-hop's finest as Madlib runs off his favorite artists. However, Quas only makes a short appearance on this particular track, so you'll have to wait until May to get those goods. The deal:
