Teenage Fanclub to Issue First LP in Three Years

Excuse us while we wax poetic for a moment: If you could spin blue cotton candy into song and play it through a vintage fuzzbox, we think it might sound just a little like Teenage Fanclub. And the band is getting ready to offer another delicate, sugary batch of the good stuff, as a recent post on their official website reveals the longtime Scottish melody makers have wrapped production on their 8th studio album, Man-Made, set for release in the UK on May 2 and the U.S. on June 6 via Merge.

Man-Made was recorded last year in a Chicago studio, and features production duties by Tortoise's John McEntire. While song titles have yet to be announced, the band's site promises a 12-song LP-- marking the Fanclub's first collection of new material since 2002's Jad Fair collaboration Words of Wisdom, Words of Hope, and the first solo band effort since 2002's Howdy!. The album is being released through the band's own label, PeMa.

In related news, Teenage Fanclub have announced two UK dates to drum up support for the new disc, with a more comprehensive 2005 tour promised for the near future. Howdy!:
