Annie LP to Be Released in the U.S. in May

Hey there, dancepop fans, go ahead and click the big fat "Cancel" button on that import order, as Annie's acclaimed 2004 release Anniemal is on its way to the States, sans inflated sticker price! The eagerly-awaited (at least by us) disc is due May 24 on Big Beat/Atltanic, and features the infectious singles "The Greatest Hit", "Chewing Gum", and "Heartbeat", the latter of which holds the #1 spot on Pitchfork's Best Singles of 2004 list. And while we're throwing out rankings all willy-nilly, the album itself, U.S. release or no, landed at an impressive #15 on our Best Albums of 2004 countdown. For those that don't know, the tracklist looks like this:

Correspondence with the Nordic pop princess's label also brought up the possibility of a tour to follow Anniemal's U.S. release, but nothing concrete has been announced as of yet. In the meantime, Annie is currently set to make a visit to New York City during the first week of April for press duties. The label rep also noted that an Annie-helmed DJ gig is more than likely during her stay, though a time/day/location is yet to be confirmed.

And quickly, for our even slimmer reader base of Norwegian dancepop completists, Annie recently released a two-part UK single for "Heartbeat" late last month. The first disc includes a remix by French house maven Alan Braxe, and disc 2 comes more fully-involved, with remixes by Maximo Park and Phones, and DJ Maurice Fulton, while the video for the original track is also included.
