Maxïmo Park Ready Debut LP, Tour the World

British band Maxïmo Park will soon release their debut album, which we at Pitchfork predict will make them the reigning kings of heavy metal. Now, it's not that their music sounds like heavy metal as such; they kinda draw from the same pool of influences as Franz Ferdinand and the Futureheads. Nor has Maxïmo Park been embraced by metalheads or anything-- no, their claim to metaldom lies entirely in one small detail: the inappropriate umlaut over the "i" in their name. Come on, that's got to be worth at least a two-page profile in Kerrang!

The album, A Certain Trigger, comes out May 31 on Warp Records. Maxïmo Park's two UK singles are already collected on the four-song Apply Some Pressure EP, which shares two tracks with A Certain Trigger. The end of May might seem far off, but it'll take at least that long to get "Apply Some Pressure" out of your head, so be careful. Album tracklist:

01 Signal and Sign
02 Apply Some Pressure
03 Graffiti
04 Postcard of a Painting
05 Going Missing
06 I Want You to Stay
07 Limassol
08 The Coast Is Always Changing
09 The Night I Lost My Head
10 Once, a Glimpse
11 All Over the Shop
12 Acrobat
13 Kiss You Better

After an imminent week of shows in North America and one in Japan, Maxïmo Park head home to play more familiar areas in the weeks leading up to the album's release. The Tokyo show might be an ambitious ploy to break the band on the world stage, or it might be that they just couldn't resist a venue called "Unit". Itinerary:
