MACRoCk 2005 to Be Held April 1-2

The Mid-Atlantic College Radio Conference-- founded in 1997, and held on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.-- will take place on April 1 and 2. The conference, which this year will feature more than 50 artists, combines "booked bands not on a major label and applied bands that are selected by a blind listening committee." Put on by JMU's student radio station, WXJM, MACRoCk's goal is to promote and further the cause of college radio and independent music. In addition to all of the performances, there are also a number of panel discussions and label expositions. With a very limited budget, MACRoCk relies on the generosity of its sponsors and those who volunteer to help promote and run the festival.

Here's a partial list of bands at this year's MACRoCk: Travis Morrison, Magnolia Electric Co., Black Mountain, Chin Up Chin Up, Thunderbirds Are Now!, Wolf Eyes, Matt Pond PA, Ahleuchatistas, Decibully, and Sunburned Hand of the Man.

Past performers include Elliott Smith, Fugazi, the Faint, Ted Leo/Pharmacists, and the Dismemberment Plan.
