DFA Announce Upcoming LPs, Remixes, Singles

Now that DFA finally has that pesky LCD Sound-system debut business out of the way, the New York-based label's website has information about several projects, both big and small, in the proverbial pipeline. First though, we have to tell you-- even if you bought the recent DFA Compilation #2, you're already out of date. In addition to recently released vinyl-only singles by LCD Soundsystem ("Yr City's a Sucker"), Black Leotard Front ("Casual Friday"), and Juan Maclean ("I, Robot"), DFA are planning to release a third single off the aforementioned LCD debut. "Disco Infiltrator" will be released on May 23 with unannounced remixes in attendance, while Black Leotard Front plan on releasing a 12" of "Hey Coach" by year's end. DFA Compilation #3, here we come!

Meanwhile, DFA remixes are on the way of Nine Inch Nails' "The Hand That Feeds" and the Blues Explosion's "Mars, Arizona". There is no word on where the NIN remix will surface, but the Blues Explosion one will be a B-side on the "Crunchy" single, out April 25.

Table scraps, you say? Well, smarty-pants, maybe you'll be pleased to hear that not one, nor two, but three new DFA full-lengths are in the works. Two of the artists will be making their DFA debuts-- the Juan Maclean have already finished their debut LP, which should be out in June, with a single, "Tito's Way", preceding it in May. Then in September, Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom (not the Bush guy) will release their debut, tentatively titled Days of Mars. The LP will only contain four songs, but as Gonzalez and Russom's alter ego Black Leotard Front proves, they can kick out an extended jam with freaked-out ease. Finally, DFA vets Black Dice have finally finished their tour of duty at the What Is Music Festival in Australia, but have decided to stay down under to record their follow up to last year's Creature Comforts. Release date? We think not, but stay tuned.

But, you know, they also play shows. LCD Soundsystem have a sold-out show at New York's Bowery Ballroom on April 2; a week later on April 9, new West Village club Movida will host a Tsunami benefit featuring, among others, Phil Mossman (multi-instrumentalist for LCD Soundsystem's touring band), members of the Rapture, DFA co-owner Tim Goldsworthy, and Beats in Space host Tim Sweeney. Finally, the much anticipated LCD Soundsystem North America tour should be taking place in May, although look how long it took them to make a damn album, so who knows, right?
