The La's Hop on the Reunion Bandwagon

With all of these earth-shaking reunions under way-- Slint, the Pixies, Roxy Music-- this one is virtually the most unlikely: The La's are reforming. For those of you who may have skipped over these guys during your Britpop mythology lesson, allow us to fill in the blanks. The La's were hot in 1990, known best for having produced the hit "There She Goes", a lovely tune that worked the UK charts and subsequently wound up on every twentysomething romantic comedy soundtrack for the next five years. However, tension and the mental health of leader Lee Mavers plagued the band while recording of the follow-up to their self-titled debut, resulting in an unfortunate and premature breakup.

But it's been a while, and things are different now, right? According to NME, co-founders Mavers and John Power (Cast) have been on the up-and-up, spotted out and about together and writing new songs. So far, large-scale tour plans are only rumored, though they have one confirmed show at the Summer Sonic festival in Japan this August.
