Aimee Mann to Release Concept Album

According to her official website, Aimee Mann (whom you might remember from the lovable 80s band 'Til Tuesday, or from the Magnolia soundtrack) is currently gearing up for the release of her fifth solo effort, entitled The Forgotten Arm. Due out on May 3, and produced by fellow singer-songwriter Joe Henry, The Forgotten Arm chronicles the story of a boxer and his girlfriend-- Mann has apparently taken up boxing herself recently-- as they fall in love during a cross-country road trip. Which is to say: Yes, it's a concept album.

An official tracklist has yet to surface for what Mann's people are calling the, ahem, "sonic novella", but Rolling Stone already has the beat on a few standout tracks, including the opener "Dear John", the piano-driven "I Can't Get My Head Around It", and a crippling ballad entitled "That's How I Knew This Story Would Break My Heart". In addition, the curious can take a listen to "Going Through the Motions", "She Really Wants You", and the aforementioned "I Can't Get..." at Mann's website.
