White Stripes Finish Recording Album, Announce Tour

Some bands take years in the studio, others take months. NME reports that the White Stripes have completed recording their new album in a scant two weeks. While no specific details (album title, tracklist, etc.) are available, plans are currently under way to have the album ready for release in time for the UK's Glastonbury Festival at the end of June. The album is said to have been recorded in the same style as previous White Stripes albums-- sans computers.

Thankfully, you'll be able to hear songs from the new album without hiding under Jack White's mixing desk: the band's site confirms three Mexico shows in May plus a slot at the Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta in June. A BBC report says the duo will indeed be playing some material from the eagerly awaited follow-up to Elephant at these dates. Furthermore, the same BBC item lets the Glastonbury cat out of the White Stripes' bag, but without offering any further details. Here's what we know to be true:

05-11 Monterrey, Mexico - Fundidora Amphitheatre de Coca Cola
05-13 Guadalajara, Mexico - Foro Alterno
05-14 Mexico City, Mexico - Palacio De Los Deportes
06-10 Atlanta, Georgia - Music Midtown Festival
