Sigur Rós Plan Summer Tour

Last week, on April 1, the Sigur Rós website announced a July tour that began in England, ended in England, and hit Swaziland, Mongolia, and Scranton, Penn., in between. Check that date again: April 1. April Fool's Day. The faux-tour included a stop at the "4th Annual Hillbilly Convention" in Amarillo, Texas, as well as the "Ouagadougou Arts Festival" in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Fortunately, they were able to confirm legitimate dates this week. The tour begins July 8 in Glasgow and will travel throughout Western Europe before a stop at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan on July 31. The band also expects to announce additional European dates in the near future.

In other news, a source within the Sigur Rós camp tells us that the band are taking a break from recording their next LP, which is nearly finished. The album is tentatively scheduled to be released early this fall. The same source also says, "One bloke in Mexico booked flights to Amarillo, which is unfortunate."
