Antony and the Johnsons Set Massive European Tour

It's time for androgyny! The gender-bending Antony and his Johnsons are about to embark upon a nearly three-month tour of Europe in support of their album I Am a Bird Now. More a performance artist and cabaret singer than an indie rocker, Antony has a penchant for the, shall we say, off-beat. He appeared in Steve Buscemi's film Animal Factory as an androgynous convict singing to inmates and performed, "I Fell in Love With a Dead Boy" for Parisian transsexuals in Sebastien Lifshitz's film Wilde Side. So, expect the unexpected, folks.

According to the Antony and the Johnsons web site, dates are still being finalized. The band will appear at the On the Boards Festival in Seattle along with Devendra Banhart, CocoRosie, and William Basinski. Antony and Banhart have collaborated before; Banhart did a guest vocal on I Am a Bird Now and Antony contributed "The Lake" to Banhart's compilation Golden Apples of the Sun off Bastet Records.
