Liz Phair Preps New Album

After her inclusion on the Soccer Mom compilation Now That's What I Call Music 14, Liz Phair is prepping for any future volumes-- the fallen indie angel is presently recording tracks for a new studio album in Los Angeles. According to Billboard, Phair has been toiling away at Village Studio with producer Dino Meneghin, ironing out an undisclosed number of songs for her next Capitol release.

No firm release details or song titles have been made public yet, but an unconfirmed September 27 release date has been floating around various fansites. Regardless, we expect it within the year. In the meantime, fans will be able to get a preview of the upcoming disc when Phair road tests a handful of the new songs at a select number of live dates this summer. Kicking things off is a set at Chicago's Lollapalooza in July, followed by a yet-to-be finalized acoustic tour in August. This will be her first tour since the Maybelline-sponsored Chicks With Attitude Tour, which wrapped in September 2004. And while no sponsor has yet been announced for the acoustic shows, we hear Velveeta has been looking to do some cross-promotion.
