Sex Pistols Movie Finally on DVD

What do you get when you throw together an embezzling manager, a band that spits, swears, and barely knows how to play, a midget, a porn star, and some legendary performances? Give up? The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle, a film documenting the rise and fall of infamous British punk rockers the Sex Pistols. The movie is set to be released for the first time on DVD in the U.S. on May 17, and May 30 in the UK.

The film features a number of Sex Pistols' songs, including "God Save the Queen" and "Pretty Vacant". Both tracks were filmed at their final show at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, where singer Johnny Rotten uttered the indicative quote, "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" He left the band the next day.

The Swindle was spawned in 1977 by Malcolm McLaren, the Pistols' manager, who decided to make a major motion picture featuring the group. Julien Temple, who at the time was a student at the National Film School, picked up the project after it was dumped by director Russ Meyer, and started shooting in the summer of '78. The script outlines McLaren's 10 guidelines for success including: "Make it as hard as possible for the media to get to the group."

The release marks the 25th Anniversary of the film, which has been out of print since the '80s. It has new DVD extras including an interview and audio commentary with Temple and journalist Chris Salewicz. Remastered in 5.1 Surround Sound, the tracklisting for the DVD is as follows:
