Kepler Ready Third Album

Canadian quintet Kepler is set to release their third full-length, Attic Salt, on July 5 via Troubleman Unlimited. The band's press promises a more rocking sound this time out, a departure from 2002's hard-lulling Missionless Days, but some mp3s are available on the band's site so you won't have to give them the benefit of the doubt. As is the tracklist, for that matter:

01 Broken Bottles Blackened Hearts
02 Thoroughbred Gin
03 My Other
04 The Bedside Manner
05 You Must Admit
06 The National Epithet
07 Days of Begging
08 The Rented Limousine
09 Reward and Respite

Attic Salt came together despite a whole shitstorm of problems-- the band lost its original drummer Mike Sheridan in 2003, and the following year of recording sessions was marred by a lack of petty cash and an abundance of petty bickering (or so says their unusually honest press release). Around this time, multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Gara split and started drumming for the Arcade Fire, which, you know, pretty much got him nowhere. But the album is now finished (as is, presumably, the bickering) and Kepler will tour North America this summer with a re-jiggered lineup featuring Mike Feuerstack of the Wooden Stars and Mike Dubue and Jordy Walker of Hi Lo Trons. No dates yet, which is good news for all the ladies out there! Sorry, old joke.
