Benicassim Festival Reveals 2005 Lineup

Yeah, we know...there have been a veritable truckload of gargantuan music festival lineups released lately. And this writer is fully aware that he has been, more often than not, the perpetrator of articles covering said numerous festivals coming up this summer. But please hold your, "Why does this asshole only seem to write about festivals halfway around the world" nonsense for a second or two; we promise we'll make it up to you later. Cause here's the thing-- who are we to deny any Spaniard, or any travel-loving music fan, the chance to dance their sunburned ass off to LCD Soundsystem, to flake out gleefully to the strains of Devendra Banhart, to find faux-religion with the Polyphonic Spree, or to partake in a free-for-all fracas with Oasis behind a beer tent, all in the blissful bosom of Spain's beach town of Benicassim near the Mediterranean city of Valencia? Enough said.

Taking place from August 4-7, the Heineken-sponsored Festival Internacional de Benicassim is in its eleventh year of existence, and it has simply become an unavoidable event for anyone yearning to get away and enjoy a few days of camping and watching the best of pop, rock, and electronic music played in superfine surroundings. The acts confirmed for this year's festival include: !!!, Abe Duque, Andrew Weatherall, Athlete, Basement Jaxx, Daniel Johnston, David Carretta, Deluxe, Devendra Banhart, Deifenbach, Dinosaur Jr., DJ Koze, Dorian, Doves, Erlend Øye, Fischerspooner, Four Tet, Jeans Team, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Keane, Kings of Convenience, La Habitacion Roja, Ladytron, Larry Tee, LCD Soundsystem, Lemon Jelly, Les Tres Bien Ensemble, Lori Meyers, Mouse on Mars, Mylo, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Nosfell, Oasis, Pan Sonic, Radio 4, Refree, Sr. Chinarro, Tarwater, the Glimmers, the Kills, the Polyphonic Spree, the Posies, the Ravonettes, the Tears, the Wedding Present, Underworld, Xiu Xiu, and Yo La Tengo.
