Smog to Tour Behind Forthcoming Album

It's been two years since Bill Callahan, otherwise known as Smog, released a new album. More than two decades into his career, the singer/songwriter has released 11 critically acclaimed records, and is now going on tour to promote his 12th, A River Ain't Too Much Love. The record was recorded in Spicewood, Texas, at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studio. All recordings were done live, with Jim White (Dirty Three) on drums, Connie Lovatt (Containe) on bass, and a slew of guests making other contributions. It comes out May 31 on, unsurprisingly, Drag City. Tracks:

01 Palimpsest
02 Say Valley Maker
03 The Well
04 Rock Bottom Riser
05 I Feel Like the Mother of the World
06 In the Pines
07 Drinking at the Dam
08 Running and Loping
09 I'm New Here
10 Let Me See the Colts

Smog will start the tour in the U.S., with three shows in California and two spots in Callahan's new hometown of Austin, Texas. The tour will then cross the Atlantic for several summery weeks throughout Europe. Further dates have not yet been confirmed, but his reps assure us that he will return to the States for more performances toward the end of the summer.
