Vetiver to Tour Europe, Issue EP

Proving once again that it ain't what you know but who, San Francisco's New-Weird-Americana-Freak-Avant-Chamber-Folk supergroup Vetiver-- which at press time included Otoo Hauser of Espers, Kevin Barker of Currituck County, and Devendra "You can blame all this on me, little monkey" Banhart, all backing principal member Andy Cabic-- have just announced a June 7 release date for an upcoming EP. And while the collective is already hard at work recording the full-length answer to their 2004 debut (and undoubtedly buying courderoy jackets from enchanted vintage stores at every chance), the EP is said to include both new and archival recordings, and to bear the self-explanatory name Between. Among other things, it includes home recordings ("Save Me a Place" by Fleetwood Mac is done up, believe it or not) by Andy Cabic, and live renditions of "Maureen" and "Belles" from the band's debut. Tracklist:

01 Been So Long
02 Save Me a Place
03 Busted (brokedown version)
04 Maureen
05 Belles

The tour includes the same all-star, mostly bearded cast as the aforementioned EP: Cabic, Alissa Anderson, Banhart, Barker, and Hauser. When they reach the UK, Vetiver will be headlining the Twisted Folk Festival series-- 'cause, I mean, really, like, did you read that line-up? Dates (all shows with Currituck Co.):

In other Vetiver news, the band has a couple of songs appearing on magazine-related compilations soon. One, associated with The Believer, features musicians covering songs by fellow contemporary artists, so expect some shit like that Ted Leo mash-up from a few months ago; the other CD, associated with the magazine Esopus, has a high-concept theme: contributors wrote songs based on various individuals' recollections of their imaginary friends.
