Pitchfork: Battles Extend Tour

Battles have only a handful of EPs in their discography, yet those records-- plus their pedigree (members of Helmet and Don Caballero, plus avant-journeyman Tyondai Braxton)-- scored them the chance to tour with Prefuse 73 and Beans. Already well into that tour, the math-rock quartet have tacked on a few more European dates in June, three of which find them alongside Four Tet. Curiously, one of those shows will be played at Hebden Bride, England, a town which Four Tet mastermind Kieran Hebden is presumably either fascinated by or terrified of.

Battles will also make a June appearance at the Sonar Festival in Spain, along with several other high-profile musicians such as Doseone (also doing a separate show with Subtle), DJ/rupture, Mouse on Mars, Matthew Herbert, Mathew Jonson, Le Tigre, Jamie Lidell, The Soft Pink Truth, LCD Soundsystem, Mu, and countless others. Oh, and according to Monitor Records' website, as of mid-March Battles are writing new material. On the road again:
