Pitchfork: James Yorkston to Tour With Sam Prekop

It's often understood that Glasgow is Scotland's musical hub, but the good folks associated with the Fence Collective have been making inroads to making Edinburgh, or at least the lil' village of East Neuk in nearby Fife, a worthy rival to the Glaswegian Shangri-La. Although he has moved on to release albums on Domino Records, Fence's most celebrated artist is undoubtedly James Yorkston, who has been pulling the antiquated model of "folk music" into the 21st century with his affecting spin on the genre, culminating in the homespun beauty of 2004's Kieran "Four Tet" Hebden-produced Just Beyond the River.

North American fans will get a rare chance to see the wistful neo-folk singer play some solo gigs as he opens for Sam Prekop for a handful of dates on his current tour before heading back across the pond to play some festivals. From June 10-12 at the Lynton and Lynmouth Music Festival and Hay-on-Wye, Wales from August 19-21 (Green Man Festival).

Prekop has just finished up the North American west coast dates with Thrill Jockey label mates Pit er Pat, and now he will begin the Eastern portion of the tour in Pittsburgh on Friday. All dates with James Yorkston are marked below, as well as a few more recently announced Prekop dates:
