Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra on Tour

This is shaping up to be the summer of afrobeat. Femi Kuti, son of the legendary Fela, is touring during the month of July, and New York City-based afrobeat collective Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra has just begun a club tour that will last through most of next month. Mixing highlife, jazz, funk, traditional African rhythms, and politics, the thirteen-member orchestra has opened for acts as diverse as James Brown, No Doubt, Wyclef Jean, and Trey Anastasio and is no stranger to festivals, having performed at Coachella and Glastonbury. We have no idea how Antibalas themselves feel about having outgrown the Brooklyn basement circuit, but seeing them play in a venue with air conditioning will be a definite plus. Dates:
