Pitchfork: Les Siestes Electroniques Returns

Say what you will about the French, with such pioneers as Daft Punk, Air, and Motorbass under their belts, the Freedom Fry-inducing nation knows its electronica. And as part of their eternal struggle to remain on the forefront of said genre, and America's shitlist, the French (yes, the entire fucking country) are once again hosting Les Siestes Electroniques-- the annual summer festival which will bring together a number of top European techno acts this July. Crosshairs set G.W.?

Held at various locales in Toulouse, France, Les Siestes Electroniques 2005 will kick off the evening of July 1, with multiple performance spread across an intermittent seven days. And since no paraphrasing could ever do justice to the website's description of the event, we'll do you the favor of reprinting it here: "'Les Siestes Electroniques' is a festival devoted to adventurous electronic music with an ambitious programmation that opens itself to the general public. High quality and agreeable atmosphere will be a calling to both well-versed and curious listeners."

Split into both afternoon and evening "agreeable" shows, five of the nine gigs will be free of charge, and the lineup-- which boasts Jan Jelinek, Vladislav Delay, Thomas Fehlmann, Brooks, Max Richter, and the mysterious Rex the Dog (!!)-- currently looks like this:
