My Morning Jacket to Tour, Release Album

It's been a couple of years and two whole Bonnaroos since My Morning Jacket last released a new LP, and franky, It Still Moves still moves most of us. This unabashed love hasn't made the torch-bearers of southern indie rock (or is it indie southern rock?) complacent. A follow-up is now fully recorded and set for release on September 20 by ATO/RCA.

Dubbed Z, it's looking highly unlikely that the album's title will prove to be as dead-on as its predecessor's, barring the possibility that it cures insomnia. Then again, anyone who falls asleep to MMJ has some more serious issues to worry about.

The band's drummer Patrick Hallahan told Billboard that Z will likely contain "10 or 11" songs, though a few other tracks are on the cusp at the moment. The band has been sampling a few new songs at live shows, namely "Don Dante", "What a Wonderful Man", and "Off the Record". Hallahan promises that the album will be a distinct addition to the MMJ canon, telling Billboard: "You can't help but have made some changes. It definitely has some cool sounds on it, but it's a different monster than [2003's It Still Moves]."

Fans expect a big tour in support of the album come September, but those who need a live fix before then are in luck. The band is just about to embark on a five-date tour with fellow Mid-American minstrels Wilco. The current tour schedule is as follows:
